day 9: the end

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

Day 9 we made the comment that we finally felt like we were on a RV roadtrip. It was our first day of just driving for most of the day. But it was awesome. I even took a little nap. We felt like real RV’ers:) We drove through the area where its all flat with fields of produce. Even garlic…and you could tell when we were near the garlic fields:) And we ended up at the ocean, a perfect end to the adventure.

Before we left El Portal on the last let of our wedding roadtrip we said goodbye. I had had a picture in my head for the week and hadn’t gotten around to it so J Tree Dave grabbed my camera and rocked it out for us.

then while on the roadtrip I got a little bored and took random pictures of Jason.

and after lots of hours of driving there it was. my beautiful Pacific Ocean… I have missed you and will someday live by you again!

ah, and I LOVE this picture. Love. Seriously jealous of the photographers that get to shoot in this sun on a daily basis.

We stayed in Half Moon Bay and camped right by the beach. We walked up the beach a little to eat at Sam’s Chowder House.

so here ends the journey. Jason and Karissa are married! Hope you enjoyed the recap. I have two other amazing weddings waiting in the wings to be blogged this week so much more awesomeness to come:)

day 4: poop, the open road, and dr. seuss

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Day 4 was our travel day of the wedding roadtrip. We woke up in the KOA overlooking wine country and went to bed high up in the hills of Yosemite, where the wedding was going to take place. Here is what was in between:

first up, the dumping station. First I have to tell you that Brad is probably the one person in the world who was looking forward to this. Well, besides Lara who was a little too after watching the rv renter video:) So, when dreaming of our RV week Brad would always revert back to his desire to empty “the sh&%#er” with boxers and a trucker hat on similar to Chevy Chase’s relatives on Christmas vacation. While he didn’t get his whole picture, he did get to mess with the blue hose and live the dream:)

So this is what we did on the morning of our first day. Emptied “the pooper”. (This is a snapshot I took out of the window…I had no dream to live up to with anything that had to do with a blue hose!)

then we hit the open road with a brief stop for a marriage license for the lovely bride and groom. Along the way Jason and Karissa worked on their vows. Inspiration came in the form of Dr. Seuss awesomeness! “will you take her as your wife, will you love her all your life” Best. wedding. vows. ever.

Then towards evening we finally starting going up in elevation towards the mountains. Every turn was a beautiful view with an amazing sunset! Here are some pictures in order so you can see the change in elevation.

Brad had a little fun looking at the views.

see the small lake in this next one towards the middle of the picture? That is the lake shown up a couple pictures. Crazy elevation and drive to get up to Yosemite!

day 3: the wine country

Day 3 we made our way up through wine country and Sonoma. It was everything I ever dreamed that wine country would be. Beautiful rolling hills of grapes. ahhh. My lens was in heaven! Plus we did some impromptu engagement/pre-wedding photos with Jason and Karissa but we’ll post those tomorrow because there are so.many.pictures for this post:) It was fun and raining and they rocked it out anyways!

rv living!

day one of the wedding adventure

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

So last week we took off to an epic wedding roadtrip adventure that included an RV, 7 people, a trip through wine country, some big trees, and ended with a just as epic wedding in Yosemite Valley. Yosemite is unbelievable and awe inspiring. And an amazing place for a wedding.

But you’ll have to wait for the wedding pictures for a couple days as we relive the wedding roadtrip a little:)

We arrived in San Francisco and got our RV home all settled in. We spent the evening at an amazing restaurant Va de Vi where Ben cooked us up some amazing stuff. Seriously, amazing food!
