ocho

Friday, December 18th, 2009

It’s back to spanish titles today because I couldn’t pass up on ocho…one of Lena’s favorite words. She sometimes just yells it out for no reason. While we are on the topic, she also looked at me the other day in the grocery store and said “abajo” (down) like no one’s business. Thank you Dora:)

So, on to ocho! Today’s nominee is from Christine and Patrick’s wedding at the Bleak House. You can also check out their fun engagement session here.

And now, #8!

A little about this picture: A little wedding details for you today. I LOVE taking pictures of all the wedding details! I love seeing the fun planning that has gone into the wedding with the bride’s personality shining through. The Bleak House and its awesomeness gave this bouquet a great backdrop too, don’t you think? This is one of the many that could have been nominated from this wedding…Christine and Patrick rocked it out and their wedding was beautiful!

lucky number 7

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

a little different from the bridal photograph’s /nominee’s we have seen in the last couple days, this nominee picture is a little mommy/daughter love. This is one of those pictures that I think every mom needs with their kids, not a staged smile but just a genuine embrace and cuddle. love that! And aren’t you just loving her little eyes!

Whew, this blogging everyday because I have to thing is more than I thought it would be:) But no worries, we are squeezing #5 in today at the good ol’ hour of 9:30pm.

behind the scenes: This is a picture from Max and Jenna’s engagement session. I love this picture because Max and Jenna completely ran with it when I crazily said “hey, stand in this overgrown area by the interstate. I promise it will be awesome!” They didn’t miss a beat and because of that we got some amazing pictures in that overgrown area. Proof that there is beauty in all places, even in overgrowth:)

Don’t forget:
-View the other nominee’s we have announced so far, here, here, here, and here.
-Leave comment love to get in on the contest for the giveaway!
-Come back tomorrow and check out #6, we’re half way there!
-Voting begins on 12/26

cuatro!

Monday, December 14th, 2009

I have no idea why, but I just feel compelled to have the blog posts in Spanish. weird. Maybe it’s because the numbers 1-12 are all I really know in Spanish:) Anyways, we are going with it today and deeming this quatro nominee!

knoxville photographer

A little different today, its two pictures but I just couldn’t split them up. They are what you call a diptych, two photos that fit better together than alone. So, again, we are rolling with it and going with the two photos as #4 nominee.

Reasons I love this picture:
1. They are in an alley. Mmmm…I love me some alleys. Even better with graffiti!
2. I love that the one picture shows the grittiness of the alley and the other shows them in focus.
3. I love that the people in the picture are Sarah and Andrew and now have a little one on the way:) These were their anniversary pictures. A big congrats!!!

a behind the scenes look: This picture was on the blog recently but was just screaming to be included in the running for picture of the year. This picture was of Brabo, the rap artist and I’m loving how it turned out. Shot with a 5d and 50 mm lens in downtown Knoxville.

a behind the scenes: Meghan had actually requested a shot like this on our first meeting or so. I love the way the windows add some architecture and the way the dress and Matt’s uniform make it pop. For you photog’s, this was shot with a 5d with my 17-40 L lens wide open.

Five on Friday: Why you should love the 12 days of Pixmas + Day 1 Nominee!

Friday, December 11th, 2009

knoxville picture of the year

Drum roll please! We are at the fun day 1 of the nominations! Let the 12 days of Pixmas begin!
A reminder for those that don’t get the newsletter, for the next 12 days we will announce 1 nomination per day on the blog. Then on December 26th we will open up voting (gives the nominees some time to chat with the families over the Christmas ham on all the reasons they need to vote:) ) and the winner will be announced on New Years Day. Yay fun!

So, to keep with the five on friday tradition…this week is the 5 reasons you should love the 12 days of Pixmas!

1. Because who wouldn’t love it? With that cute little name, how can you not want to just want to pinch its cheeks:)

2. Because you could be in it! If you are a past client from 2009 and reading this…you could be in it! And get to win cool prizes! So check back to see if one of your pics made the cut:)

3. Because I had the hard part of narrowing it down to 12 so now you get the even harder part of picking a winner! Have fun!

4. Because the winner gets a canvas of their choice from their session/wedding plus a complimentary full session in 2010! And because we don’t believe in losers around here, all the nominee’s get a complimentary mini session in 2010! Woohoo!

5. Because there is even more funness! For every comment you leave on any of the nominee posts and you’ll be entered into a drawing for a Christmas craft! (go ahead, think I’m a dork but my Christmas craft kicks butt:) I can’t divulge because my family reads the blog and I don’t want to spoil their Christmas but its awesome!

So, in no particular order, numero uno nominee!

a behind the scenes of the picture:
Erin and Dan were married this past October in Maryville. See their wedding post here. This picture was taken after the wedding while guests mingled and we waited for the fam to get rounded up for family pictures. The sun was perfect for yummy sunflare and the barn made a picture perfect wedding place. Plus, Dan and Erin aren’t too shabby themselves:) I love that Erin is smelling her bouquet too! For you photogs, this was taken on a Canon 5d with a 17-40 L lens.
