the bride’s night

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

Julie Roberts and I hosted The Bride’s Night at Club LeConte a few weeks ago and had a blast! It was a night to spoil our brides and their girls with lots of fun, food, dancing, prizes and more fun!

We had some amazing Knoxville wedding vendors that joined forces with us and made this bride’s night one to remember. The most important being Lorie, owner of The Ribbon Cutters. She took our invitation and ran with it for the theme. And she just kicked butt getting stuff taken care of for us. Seriously don’t know what we would have done without her!

The next amazing wedding vendor was Stacey of The Blooming Earth. She did one of my weddings last year and it was instant love for me. She is amazing! And she grows all her flowers locally, does so much more than flowers, sells at the farmers market, and participates in a CSA. I mean, what more can you want! And the best part is, we gave her the idea and theme and she ran with it. Stunning beautiful arrangements!

The White Table furnished all the linens and were spectacular to work with! Highly highly recommend them if you are in the need for some great looking tableclothes and such!

Marble Slab was there to unveil their newest creation, Ice cream cupcakes in a tiramisu flavor. So yummy!

We had such a great time with the 50+ brides and girls there and hope they and the vendors did too! Thank you all for making this event what it was, Julie and I are extremely blessed to have clients and vendors like you all!

wedding week: creating your wedding

knoxville wedding

My favorite thing about weddings that regardless of where you are in the world, what budget, what time or year, day, month, and how you go about it, weddings come down to love.  Two people joining together their lives. It’s all about you!

But you know what?  The minute you make your wedding unique to you and incorporate your flair, personality, love into the day well,

It makes the day magic.

And the great thing…regardless of your budget, you can do this!

***

so, how can you make your wedding you?

well, lets chat about that!

knoxville wedding

this is the most important.  When you are planning your wedding think about who you are as a couple! Love the outdoors, have your wedding be outside in a unique location.  Met at a coffee shop? Have a coffee theme or a coffee bar! Embrace who you are and add in little details to make your wedding showcase you!

It’s really easy to get caught up in the traditions of the day and what the magazines are telling you to buy but embrace and incorporate who you are!

Which leads me to the next point, take all those great things from #1 that make you you and use it to personalize your wedding! This can be in really simple ways or really crazy extravagant ways. Check out how this couple incorporated their love of books and reading into their wedding!knoxville wedding

Another amazing way to make your wedding personal is to include your legacy and past.  Whether its through your parents and grandparents wedding pictures sprinkled in, a cherished piece, or even incorporating something they had at there wedding.  Like Alison, who had a piece of her grandmother’s wedding dress wrapped around her bouquet.

this one is my favorite! Just go for it! Make your wedding something that you will look back on and cherish the details.  Don’t get all caught up in everything a wedding has to be or what everyone says you have to do, get caught up in making it your own!

the next couple days will be looking at just that, how to make your wedding awesome:) Can’t wait!

wedding week | wedding 2010 trends

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

So we have talked about what your style of wedding will be, we’ve talked about some fun diy crafts, we’ve even talked about Knoxville vendors and questions to ask while looking for your perfect wedding vendors. Today I thought we would look at some hot new 2010 wedding trends. And I’m happy to report that my DIY post was right on track with the reported trends:)

So, what can we expect to see for 2010 weddings?

Simplicity:

Think intimate beautiful backyard weddings with hand crafted favors. Think emphasis on the reason for the wedding rather than the production of it all. I got to photograph a wedding here on New Years Eve that I’ll show later held at the Laurel Theater in Knoxville, TN that emphasized this point beautifully. Simple, beautiful, and intimate. Made me realize that sometimes its the simple wedding that has something so beautiful about it. Here’s a picture of a wedding featured on the Wedding Chicks of a simple barnyard wedding that proved simple can be awesome!

Buttercream!:
I mean really, we all know the fondant looks great but who wants to eat that stuff! I say bring on the buttercream! But yes, expect to see more buttercream at weddings. Find an awesome cake decorator and it will look just as beautiful as any fondant and your guests will thank you:)

Colors:
Expect fun colors! Not just go pick a color for the bridesmaid dresses and call it a day. Think more coordinating color schemes to fit the style of your wedding. Think monochromatic color schemes with one color in different shades. Think muted colors. I love the 100 layer cake blog’s inspiration binder with lots of fun color combos to give you ideas. Here is a little color combo that utilizes one of the other trends, a little turquoise!
