Sometimes when work is crazy with photographing sessions in Knoxville, editing, orders, etc I forget that I have a little girl who is growing up way too fast. Well, I don’t forget but I do forget to break out the camera to catch some in action. I forget that there is an everyday life of my little family here in Knoxville that sometimes just need some snapshot pictures so when the snow came we broke out the camera and went to catch snowflakes in our mouths.

Lena story #1:
today in the car, every 2 seconds: “what do mommy, where go?”
me every 2 seconds: “we’re going to Staples”

after 10 minutes of this my answer changed to “what I said last time”
Lena’s answer to this: “chill out mommy, chill out”

Lena story #2:

Lena: “mommy, I go to work”
me: “oh, you’re going to work? Where?”
Lena: (looking up tapping her cheek like she is thinking) “ummm….I know, Lowe’s!” (pronouncing it “yo’s”)

that kid cracks me up! Isn’t she growing up?!

brabo gator | knoxville photographer

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

No doubt that I have had a ton of sessions lately for Christmas photographs, cards, family pictures. So when I got the call from Brabo Gator’s manager about doing a session in Knoxville for artist pictures for him I was super excited about it. I’m beginning to love photographing artists in Knoxville…there is just something working with other creative people that are up for anything in their session. Love it!

So I met Brabo down in the Old City in Knoxville for some photographs for him to use in his flyers and future albums. Here are some of my faves…

five on friday | the “upcoming” post

Friday, December 4th, 2009

knoxville's best wedding photographerSo much going on here! It’s supposed to be the slow season coming up after all the weddings in October and Christmas portraits but it seems like we are just gearing up for some awesome December/January happenings here at Shannon Kelley Photography! So, I thought I would dedicate this five to the upcoming stuff so you guys know what you have to look forward to!

If you got the newsletter, you probably have a heads up on a couple of things plus some other juicy fun stuff. Go sign up so you don’t miss out next time!

1. Big fun announcement of awesomeness next week for the ladies! (well, and men too…we’ll make sure not to leave you completely out!) I’m so excited about this and we are rapping up details on Monday so we’ll send out an email to those on the newsletter list for first dibs so be sure to go sign up!

2. Christmas is coming! Every year we, as a family, try to do some good for the world in our little way. Whether its spending Christmas Eve with those on the street or handing out Christmas cookies…nothing too extravagant but I like to hope/pray it impacts someone in a good way. This year I want to include you! Do you have any ideas? Would you be interested in helping us do something physically or would you rather give money/items/support? Or would you rather just read about what we do? :) I have a couple ideas but wanted to see what you thought and if there was any interest.

3. Woohooo!!!! My favorite time of year on the blog is almost here!!! Picture of the YEAR!!! I have the hard part of narrowing it down to 12 then you will have the harder job of picking your fave. We’re are doing it a little different this year to make it fun fun fun!!!! (read on to #4 for detailed funness!)

4. This year we are having 12 days of PIXMAS! (don’t hate on the corny title!)

-From Dec 11th through Dec 23rd we will be announcing (in no particular order) one nominee per day with a little background story on the picture as well!
-Then on Dec 26th we will start the voting. For you nominee’s, this will give you Christmas to mention to your fam and friends to vote for you…just giving you a strategic hint:)
-Voting will run through December and the winner gets a full session in 2010 and a big ol canvas of their picture! Plus, all nominee’s get a mini session in 2010 so its a win-win!

Now, who is excited!!!!????

5. Speaking of voting…I was nominated for best wedding photographer in Knoxville. To whoever nominated me, a huge thanks. You made my day. Seriously. So, if you haven’t read it on facebook please go vote! Pretty please with sugar on top! You can vote multiple times every day through December! I’m thinking some fun celebration on the blog if we win, don’t you think? Win or not though, love all you guys and your support! It means more to me than you will ever know! knoxvilles best wedding photographer

one and fun | knoxville photographer

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

This family is new to Knoxville and celebrating a little one’s birthday! What better way to celebrate than some photography! It was the big first birthday so we did some family photos as well as a little cupcake action. Not just any cupcakes either, I splurged and bought Magpie’s here in Knoxville. Yummy! I’m pretty sure her and I are fast friends now for that cupcake:)

We met in Knoxville on a perfect crisp morning…loving the light in these! Enjoy the sneak peek photos and welcome to Knoxville!

marie + scott | a sneak peek

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Marie and Scott live in a beautiful part of Knoxville Tennessee, complete with a river in the front and deer in the back. Such a great place for photographs! So I made my way out there to take some portraits for them! I just love taking photographs in the fall…look at the awesome colors! And being near the mountains here in Knoxville makes it easy to love the fall!

So, I love Marie for so many reasons but my new fave reason is that she busted out a smize and a little ANTM posing! Loved it! For those that don’t know what a smize is, you need to watch America’s Next Top Model…it is awesome, outrageous, and gives you good ideas for your next session with me:)

sara + roy | knoxville engagement photographer

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Engagement photos, another one of my favorite kind of sessions and photography! It gives you a way to get to know the couple more and you just get fun photos! Sara and Roy were no different, awesome engaged couple with some awesome pictures to boot! We met in downtown Knoxville to get some great fall light and capture their love. Sara and Roy were great! They were so naturally in love and really were great with being themselves in front of the camera!

Another reason I love engagement pictures? Its lets you capture you being you as a couple. before the wedding dress, before the craziness of being newlyweds, before kids. It’s the one time you can get pictures that capture your love, all funky and fresh like:) My favorite picture of Brad and I came from our engagement session. Its a giant picture on our mantle and I’m so glad we did an engagement session just for that picture!

ok…who is ready for some pictures! Sara and Roy, thanks for being awesome and enjoy the pictures!

Yes, Lena decided to be a pirate for Halloween. We tried to persuade her with tails of bunny and princesses but she wasn’t having it. So, a pirate we were. lenahalloween

the Crandall’s | UT Botanical Gardens

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

I met up with Jenn and Jayson for some family photographs at UT Botanical Gardens in Knoxville. The UT Botanical Gardens are a huge favorite among knoxville photographers but we lucked out with not too busy of a day there except for a fairy birthday party (which was quite cute!) For those local photographer’s reading, that is a great place to get some fun photographs! Check out last years pictures of these two little ones and enjoy a couple from this year to see how they’ve grown. Now they are running around chasing after each other:)

I just love these two photographs! Just brings out the spirit of sister’s roaming through the garden:)
