the things to remember

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I love doing my Knoxville sessions, whether it be family, children, or even couples, at a location that means something. I chatted a little about that here. It just makes the photography so meaningful.

This family were winners of a giveaway at Cutie Tooties here in Knoxville, TN! So the other day I made my way out to west Knoxville to photograph a beautiful family. I went to their house, where we got to have a fun session with things that mean something to them. My fave from the photography session is one that just brings you back to a place in time. I love pictures that do that, that remind you of your children’s favorite toy, reminds you of how they used to smell, reminds you of that time and place. Love those kind of pictures.

During our session we had children’s story time with her favorite book.

Want some fun pictures of your family just being themselves? I’ll tag along with you and get some great memories:) contact me here.

Friday, January 1st, 2010

The first day of 2010! So many thoughts going through my head of all the great weddings that I have gotten to photograph here in Knoxville and East Tennessee and best of all, all the great clients and brides that I have gotten to meet and befriend. Being a Knoxville wedding photographer is a job I love and I can’t wait for 2010! I could go on and on but I think I’ll save it for another post:) Because today we are announcing the winner of the picture of the year!! Yay!

Knoxville wedding photographer: picture of the year!

The winner, with over 40% of the votes, #11!!!!

I heart Casey and Courtney so much! They were married back in May just outside of Knoxville in Historic Rugby TN and had a beautiful wedding complete with diy amazingness, slideshows, a giant tent, and a little Miley dancing…I mean, what else can you want! :) A huge congrats and a thank you for letting me photograph your beautiful wedding!

Knoxville family photographer: picture of the year runner up!

Also! More funness! I decided I didn’t want to leave the also impressive runner up out.  With over 20% of the votes, #7!

I love this shot because its all about family. As a wedding photographer for a majority of my time, I love those sessions where I get to photograph families doing what they do best, loving each other and just being themselves. This picture is of a family new to Knoxville and I’m so happy to have gotten the privilege to capture their beautiful family! Second place is also going to get a full session in 2010 and a 11×14 print! Woohoo!

There is more awesomeness, you say!

Of course! Tomorrow (or later tonight…if Lena cooperates because she will be the Vanna White!) we will announce the winner of the comment contest! Those who left a comment on the nomination and contest posts all get entries in it and the winner gets awesome craftiness from the wedding photographer turned etsy lover and a lil’ sumpin sumpin (it’s a session but I just wanted to say sumpin sumpin on the blog:) )

Congrats to the winners and nominee’s! I’ll be emailing soon!

gigi and brandan +1.

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Gigi and Brandan got married last year just outside of Knoxville, in Gatlinburg. I was lucky enough to get to photograph their wedding and even luckier to keep in touch with them and take pictures of their new family this year! This year we met in Oak Ridge at the beautiful Oak Ridge Arboretum. It was a perfect beautiful day for us. They are such a great couple and family and I’m honored that they made the drive into Oak Ridge to capture this next chapter of their life, their family!

Not to mention their little one is the cutest thing ever and loves the camera! Yay for babies loving the camera!

oh, and we had another family member there, Waylon the dog, who may just have to be featured in another blog post but I was getting a little crazy on this sneak peek so I had to stop! Don’t worry though Brandan, we got some good ones of the pups:)

Enjoy!

mini session sneak peek | Lowery’s

Monday, November 30th, 2009

The holiday season is fast approachinghere and mini sessions have been all the rage here in Knoxville for families getting their portraits done for their Christmas cards. Even though mini sessions are limited a little in time I always try to sneak a little artsy fun pictures in there above just the family portrait. Makes the mini session even that better of a deal, family portraits plus some photos of you and your family that are so much more than a portrait, they are you being you! Capturing the smiles and fun of a family being themselves, love it!

So, we made our way to the UT Gardens here in Knoxville for this family portrait mini session. Here are a couple of my fave “non-portraits” :)

the Crandall’s | UT Botanical Gardens

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

I met up with Jenn and Jayson for some family photographs at UT Botanical Gardens in Knoxville. The UT Botanical Gardens are a huge favorite among knoxville photographers but we lucked out with not too busy of a day there except for a fairy birthday party (which was quite cute!) For those local photographer’s reading, that is a great place to get some fun photographs! Check out last years pictures of these two little ones and enjoy a couple from this year to see how they’ve grown. Now they are running around chasing after each other:)

I just love these two photographs! Just brings out the spirit of sister’s roaming through the garden:)

Oakes Farm Corn Maze | family

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

This past week I had a few sessions at the Corn Maze and decided to sneak out early with Lena and Mom for some fun family photos! Oakes Farm is just outside of Knoxville, in Corryton and a great tradition for our family! It was a beautiful day outside (a little chilly but we bundled up!) It was so much fun to see Lena really get into it this year. The Corn Maze had so much stuff to do this year including a kid’s area and awesome slide! We went with the traditional hay ride and picking out a pumpkin to cap off the day though.

(side note..those following me on facebook already know a funny story about Lena and her trip to the pumpkin patch:) Hint, in includes potty training and her first outdoor potty adventure!)
