arisa and tyler: married

Monday, April 18th, 2011

Arisa and Tyler were married up in my neck of the woods in Fountain City, a part of Knoxville.  It was a perfect day ending at a country club with amazing views and a beautiful sunset.
this is Arisa writing her vows that morning.

Head on over to facebook to check out more of their sneak peek!

I consider myself blessed to call Julie Roberts a friend.  She loves life, is beautiful, down to earth, appreciates people for who they are, is someone who I can have a deep conversation with followed by random laughter, and today she is getting married!!!

Happy wedding day Julie!!!

You are getting married where??

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

I’m a big HUGE fan of unique wedding venues. I personally got married in an old historic mansion and loved that it wasn’t your typical church setting. Nowadays I would probably push the envelope even further because there are some amazing venues out there for brides to tap in to and think outside the box with. Like Krystel who choose the Art Emporium in downtown Knoxville, LOVED that venue for a wedding!

unique wedding venues

So what can you do to find a unique, different venue? Look around town for places like art emporiums, cool old buildings, businesses that have space that are in a cool building (some businesses will let you rent out their place, asking never hurt anyone…larger coffee shops and mom and pop stores are great for this), older houses or local parks…inspiration for wedding venues is everywhere!

Another cool venue in Knoxville, a favorite of mine, is the Bleak House. It’s an old mansion that has history complete with beautiful tiered gardens.

The Bleak House is having a bridal show this Sunday, April 17th, and I’d be honored for you to join me there if you are a bride! Brides may register by sending the following information to bhbridalshow2011@gmail.com.
Bride’s Name, Name of Bride’s Guest, Wedding Date, Phone Number, E-mail

Can’t wait to see you there!

Jamie & Grant

Thursday, March 24th, 2011

A destination wedding that includes mountains, cabin, vows, and ribs with your family followed by more destination fun on a wedding cruise to celebrate is an amazing wedding if I do say so myself!

Mix that with the awesome that is Jamie and Grant and you have yourself a day! I was SO honored to be part of their intimate destination wedding and absolutely loved every bit of getting to capture it. From the amazing peacock details, great weather, beautiful cake, perfect dress, and Grant’s dad marrying them, it all made such a perfect day.

Congrats to Jamie and Grant!

the art of getting married

Friday, February 18th, 2011

I love February weddings because they are typically not your traditional girls with church weddings. They are out of the box, intimate affairs that are creative and beautiful.

Krystel and Mitch were no different, they even bumped it up a notch and had their wedding at the Art Emporium in downtown Knoxville. It was a gorgeous wedding with amazing details. Krystel showed her creativity because she planned this wedding in 2 weeks when their elopement plans to the Dominican Republic fell through (they are still going as a honeymoon but just couldn’t get married there) and boy did she rock it out!

instead of a unity candle or sand ceremony, Krystel and Mitch wanted to do something different. So they did a God’s Knot, where the three strands represent bride, groom, and God are braided together. Very cool.

ok…I am in love with these three pictures! These two just work it for the camera without even trying. They are just natural and Krystel’s smile and laugh is amazing!

and one of my favorite ring shots ever:) Their dinner was catered by Full Service BBQ (who was amazing! Seriously, if you ever need BBQ catered he is the best!) because BBQ is their favorite. And this is why I love Krystel even more…she relishes in the abnormal like myself:)

Krystel and Mitch, thanks so much for inviting me to capture your amazing wedding! Enjoy!

A Wedding in Pigeon Forge

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

Rachel loves Christmas so imagine her surprise when, on their first date, she is chatting about her love of Christmas and the fact that Pigeon Forge has a Christmas Inn when Rob, who thought she may have been stalking him, fesses up to his dad running the Inn. (turns out there wasn’t any stalking going on!)

So when they went to pick a place to get married it was a natural choice to have it at the Inn at Christmas Place, which is an amazing hotel that is very log cabin like but is decorated for Christmas year round! And it has a beautiful area in front of a giant fireplace and overlooking the pond where you can have a wedding. It was a perfect match and a perfect wedding day where everything went off without a hitch, the bride looked stunning, and the couple made time for lots of couple pictures. (a fave in my book!)

the bride’s night

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

Julie Roberts and I hosted The Bride’s Night at Club LeConte a few weeks ago and had a blast! It was a night to spoil our brides and their girls with lots of fun, food, dancing, prizes and more fun!

We had some amazing Knoxville wedding vendors that joined forces with us and made this bride’s night one to remember. The most important being Lorie, owner of The Ribbon Cutters. She took our invitation and ran with it for the theme. And she just kicked butt getting stuff taken care of for us. Seriously don’t know what we would have done without her!

The next amazing wedding vendor was Stacey of The Blooming Earth. She did one of my weddings last year and it was instant love for me. She is amazing! And she grows all her flowers locally, does so much more than flowers, sells at the farmers market, and participates in a CSA. I mean, what more can you want! And the best part is, we gave her the idea and theme and she ran with it. Stunning beautiful arrangements!

The White Table furnished all the linens and were spectacular to work with! Highly highly recommend them if you are in the need for some great looking tableclothes and such!

Marble Slab was there to unveil their newest creation, Ice cream cupcakes in a tiramisu flavor. So yummy!

We had such a great time with the 50+ brides and girls there and hope they and the vendors did too! Thank you all for making this event what it was, Julie and I are extremely blessed to have clients and vendors like you all!

A New Years Eve Wedding

Monday, January 10th, 2011

So what is better than a wedding on New Year’s Eve? A New Year’s Eve wedding that celebrates it right until midnight and brings it in with a bang! Erica and Kyle decided to have a New Year’s Evening that celebrated the New Year and their new union as a couple! Complete with dancing, cake, a scavenger hunt, a giant projection of Times Square with hats, horns and noisemakers for all the guests to celebrate with! It was such a fun reception!

oh, and did I mention the shoes!?

and can you believe how GORGEOUS Erica is!!?

so the reception tables were all named with song names.  The game was that when your table song was played the table got up to dance! Great idea! And lets just say that there was a Bottom’s Up table and it was awesome!

Erica and Kyle had trolleys that brought us from the church back to the Marriott so while cocktail hour was going on we snuck in a few pictures:)

this is the craziness of the adult quest game! I seriously now think that every reception needs one of these! It was a scavenger hunt where your table was a team and got points for being the first to do whatever the bride and groom said.  It was awesome!
