a little different from the bridal photograph’s /nominee’s we have seen in the last couple days, this nominee picture is a little mommy/daughter love. This is one of those pictures that I think every mom needs with their kids, not a staged smile but just a genuine embrace and cuddle. love that! And aren’t you just loving her little eyes!

So, why boudoir? Well, lets here it from past clients to get some real reasons, tried and true!

What made you interested in having boudoir photos done?

I wanted to have something different to give my fiance for Valentines Day. I saw the book as the gift that keeps on giving!

I thought it would be something fun, sexy, and unique I could give to my boyfriend. I didn’t want to give him a typical gift considering it was our one year anniversary.
I wanted to give him something creative and sexy. He was definitely surprised and he absolutely loved it!!*

I had never heard of “boudoir photos” until I read about it on ProjectWedding. All these girls were posting these super trashy photos online. I thought, I wonder if our photographer does that? Then, you came out with the Valentine’s day special and I wanted to do it, but wasn’t ready. When you posted a pic from one of those sessions on your blog, and it wasn’t trashy at all, just really beautiful I new I wanted to and I knew I wanted you to do it.

So, were you nervous?

I was a little nervous, but I didn’t do anything super revealing. I didn’t want to look trashy just really beautiful. So, I was more comfortable than the girls that bare it all. I also brought my maid of honor with me. That helped a lot.

I was a little nervous considering I had never met Shannon, but she was so cool and professional. She made me feel very comfortable during the shoot.

How was your experience?

You made me feel so comfortable…Your photos are real, they aren’t edited to the point where you don’t look like yourself. That is my favorite part.

Shannon is amazing. She made me feel
completely comfortable and had some amazingly creative ideas.

What would you tell girls thinking about doing this?

**I literally copied and pasted these responses and the girls didnt see any of the other responses…isn’t it funny that they all began with the same answer:)

Do it! Your guy will love the pics, and Shannon does such a great job you will feel so beautiful!

Do it. Its liberating to do something like this and release your inner
model!

Do it! I had so much fun and the pictures were amazing. My boyfriend said I
looked amazing…

Some ideas for what to wear during your boudoir session:

I only wore a custom corset designed by: http://www.etsy.com/shop/labellefairy

other ideas: a fave shirt or jersey of your guy’s, different lingerie outfits, fun jewelry, funky accessories, a tie, boots or other fun shoes, anything that is meaningful to the both of you

It’s like glamour shots for grownups!

“Shannon, this was probably one of the most fun things that I did for the wedding. Your use of light and angles always makes me look the best. Everything turned out even better than I could have ever expected. The photos were amazing. It was like glamour shots for grown ups. I was really worried about looking trashy and distasteful, but these photos were just beautiful.”

gigi and brandan +1.

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Gigi and Brandan got married last year just outside of Knoxville, in Gatlinburg. I was lucky enough to get to photograph their wedding and even luckier to keep in touch with them and take pictures of their new family this year! This year we met in Oak Ridge at the beautiful Oak Ridge Arboretum. It was a perfect beautiful day for us. They are such a great couple and family and I’m honored that they made the drive into Oak Ridge to capture this next chapter of their life, their family!

Not to mention their little one is the cutest thing ever and loves the camera! Yay for babies loving the camera!

oh, and we had another family member there, Waylon the dog, who may just have to be featured in another blog post but I was getting a little crazy on this sneak peek so I had to stop! Don’t worry though Brandan, we got some good ones of the pups:)

Enjoy!

This family is new to Knoxville and celebrating a little one’s birthday! What better way to celebrate than some photography! It was the big first birthday so we did some family photos as well as a little cupcake action. Not just any cupcakes either, I splurged and bought Magpie’s here in Knoxville. Yummy! I’m pretty sure her and I are fast friends now for that cupcake:)

We met in Knoxville on a perfect crisp morning…loving the light in these! Enjoy the sneak peek photos and welcome to Knoxville!

mini session sneak peek | Lowery’s

Monday, November 30th, 2009

The holiday season is fast approachinghere and mini sessions have been all the rage here in Knoxville for families getting their portraits done for their Christmas cards. Even though mini sessions are limited a little in time I always try to sneak a little artsy fun pictures in there above just the family portrait. Makes the mini session even that better of a deal, family portraits plus some photos of you and your family that are so much more than a portrait, they are you being you! Capturing the smiles and fun of a family being themselves, love it!

So, we made our way to the UT Gardens here in Knoxville for this family portrait mini session. Here are a couple of my fave “non-portraits” :)

marie + scott | a sneak peek

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Marie and Scott live in a beautiful part of Knoxville Tennessee, complete with a river in the front and deer in the back. Such a great place for photographs! So I made my way out there to take some portraits for them! I just love taking photographs in the fall…look at the awesome colors! And being near the mountains here in Knoxville makes it easy to love the fall!

So, I love Marie for so many reasons but my new fave reason is that she busted out a smize and a little ANTM posing! Loved it! For those that don’t know what a smize is, you need to watch America’s Next Top Model…it is awesome, outrageous, and gives you good ideas for your next session with me:)

dani | sneak peek

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

I love senior portraits! Its fun, you can do more magazine editorial portraits, and the seniors know how to rock it! Dani was no exception either. We met in Farragut, outside of Knoxville and got blessed with some awesome weather and sun! Knoxville seniors seem to be catching on to the idea that your senior portraits don’t have to be in front of a gray background, and I like it! Hope you enjoy Dani!
