sisters

Friday, November 12th, 2010

Sisters have a special place in my heart. I have a sister that is close in age and kinda like a best friend, so I heart sisters:) And these two were no, exception. We met in Knoxville with their aunt to do a little surprise photo session for their parents and these two hammed it up. They were great, a photographer’s dream really:) They were just them, they gave me and the camera real smiles, real giggles, and real hugs. Love that!

ladybugs, laughs, and lots of love

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010

Erin is a local budding photographer and I’m proud to know her and call her a friend. Her family is amazing and I really think Bella may be one of the only kids I’ve met that rival Lena in imagination and outgoingness. We’re planning to get those two kid’s together and just watch the hilariousness:)

So when Erin and I were chatting about what to do for the photo session, she decided that she wanted a more “real” session, a lifestyle session that showed their family just being them. And I was all like, yes please! I love family sessions where the family is just them. It’s called “lifestyle” in the photography industry usually but I like to call it real life. Real life is dad playing with Bella while mommy tends to the little one, real life is finding a ladybug, putting on a show for your family, and laughing. Real life is beautiful.

outtakes. take 1.

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

So occasionally I have hilarious pictures from a shoot that go in someone’s gallery but doesn’t make it onto the blog. Because, really, who can not include hilarious pictures in a gallery for a client:) Remember John? Well, he had lots of outtakes, because he is 1. hilarious and 2. related to some other crazy people:) See what I mean?

so on my recent trip to Sparta, TN for some awesome photography, I made time to get some pictures of my amazing cousin, John. I’ll spare any embarrassing stories and just tell you this, John is kind of like a brother to me… as in, he tried to push me in the river with.my.cameras before this shoot… All in good fun of course:) He’s the closest cousin that I had growing up when we lived in Sparta, TN and is kind of awesome, a great kid, in the running for homecoming king this weekend at Maryville College, and definitely going somewhere in life. and I love him:)

ok…that should embarrass him enough:) Now, onto some photography!

first up…the second cousins…Lena kind of loves John too:)

real life is beautiful

Sunday, October 10th, 2010

This family means so much to me

because I can’t fathom the wait

and as they hold their beautiful new baby in their arms

their heart waits for their Daniel in Guatemala

to come home

to see his little sister and complete the family.

Real life is waiting, knowing God has a purpose.

Real life is loving, with all your heart.

Real life is living and savoring every moment.

Real life is beautiful.

i’m in love with this photo…ah, those feet!

if someone had told me 3 years ago that I would have wanted a picture of me changing Lena and hanging in the kitchen with her I probably wouldn’t have believed you.  But now I would do anything to have photos of those times.  Photos of her being her and us being us as a family.

Real life, captured forever so my failing memory can remember and so that she can one day look back and see how much she was loved.

I loved this session so much because it did just that, captured memories for baby Ellyson that she can have forever and see how much she was loved.

******

I’m offering a LIMITED amount of spots right now for a few of these real life sessions in November and December at a steal.  Let me hang with you and capture those memories:) Contact me for details… shann@shannonkelleyphotography.com

ps…i was in a black and white mood today so you got a variety:)

a rockin senior session

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

It’s not often I do senior sessions because of my schedule with weddings but when I do I fall a little bit more in love with them every time and wonder why I don’t do more:) Emily was no different and she completely rocked her senior session here in Knoxville. It was a perfect Knoxville evening for some beautiful light! I heart beautiful light for senior portraits…well, any photos I guess, they make them so dreamy!

kanya + martin: a couples session

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Kanya and Martin had a photography session with me just because. And I love that! They are married and have a family but wanted to celebrate them. How awesome is that! I’m a big fan of couples getting their pictures done even in family sessions because so often we overlook the romance of it all when kids come in the picture.

So we had a great time in the Old City in Knoxville because Kanya likes cool buildings and alleys just as much as me:) And they rocked it with their couple photos, don’t you think:)

on a side note, yesterday I got the news that I was featured on All the Photographers, a blog that features photographers from around the world. I answered some of their fun questions and then they went through and picked out some of their fave pictures from recent sessions:) A big thanks to Jon at All the Photographers for being awesome!
