Haitian American Institute

Saturday, May 21st, 2011

My friends are getting on to me because they know I’m behind in blogging so thought I better dedicate the next few blog posts to catching up:) While I was in Haiti we had the chance to stop by the Haitian American Institute and take pictures for some new things they have in the works.  The school is a college that teaches English and prepares students to be successful in their careers.  World Wide Village is working with the Haitian American Institute to get their alumni association together. The campus and teachers and staff were phenomenal.

Mac Comer | artist photography

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

The other day I had the distinct privilege of doing Mac Comer’s pictures to use on his site and such.  I decided to put on his music earlier in the day to get inspired for the shoot and wow. I was BLOWN away! This guy is amazing! Seriously. I listened to his album all this morning at the studio on repeat. It’s that good!

It’s this acoustic, folky, amazing blend of awesome. Go here to listen (#5 is my favorite!) and buy it!

What I LOVE about photographing artists is that we can get some fun artistic shots and go a little out of the box. check it out.

brabo | rapper

Monday, November 8th, 2010

So, one of my favorite people to photograph are other artists because they just see the world in an artistic way, no matter if they are rappers or designers or other photographers, they just get it and have ideas that push me. So when Brabo calls me about doing his newest cd cover I always get excited because he comes with ideas and then we push it creatively. This was the last photo shoot we did with a more outside urban vibe, this time we did studio and played with more shadows and tones.

brazeiros in knoxville

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

a little something different (and yummy!) on the blog today! Brazeiros is a Brazilian steakhouse (or Churrascarias) that held its grand opening here in Knoxville this past week to rave reviews! This was my first time getting to experience a Brazilian steakhouse and the whole concept is amazingly fun!

Find a great article with more info on Brazilian steakhouses and the owners here in Knoxville here.

So the concept is continuous service with a selection of 12 meats to try throughout the night as you wish. It’s one price and comes with a salad bar (that is delightfully different complete with amazing cheeses!) and sides and desserts (including the best chocolate cake ever!)

This is the little red tab that you get to flip over to green when you want one of the chef’s to stop by with their selection of meat. It’s really fun:) Oh, and the meat is phenomenal. Best lamb ever!

So Lena, mom, and I got to experience Brazeiro’s while I grabbed some pictures for them and well, lets just say Lena was really excited about the chocolate cake and told everyone about it:)

why weird locations can rock…

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

Don’t get me wrong, I love some of our locations we have available here in Knoxville.  But sometimes I find myself needing a fun location to bring out a little creativity.  Don’t you?  Just to shoot for some fun and in different, weird locations.  To challenge myself and see the world a little differently than in my usual spots of shooting. I’ve shot here before but its been about 2 years ago and it was so fun to be back.  I pushed myself a little more this time and we even befriended some skaters and did some shooting in the bowls and jumps…very fun!

So this past Knoxville Photog Meetup we did a little fun shooting with some beautiful models at a local Knoxville skate park and I did just that…had a little fun shooting in a weird location that was awesome!

The models were amazing and up for anything (even skaters jumping over them!).  So our group had some fun photographing the models and playing around at the skatepark with the amazing light!!

Here’s another little sneak of Rachel, the beautiful model, that I had put on facebook the other day:)

So, where do you shoot if you are a photographer?? Do you find yourself shooting at the same locations?  Ready to try some new ones!? Look around this week and find one…step out of your comfort zone a little if you need to too…sometimes that is great for creativity!

second story: a vendor

Monday, August 9th, 2010

Second Story is a new bridal store here in Knoxville that gives brides a place to talk all thing weddings and see some awesome vendors from everything from invitations, planners, and of course, photographers. How fun is that!? Its a super cute place that I’m proud to be part of. Second Story is just starting up with the grand opening tomorrow in Knoxville and hopefully has a bright future ahead of it! If you are a bride, be sure to head on over to Second Story to check it out:)

PS…we are drawing for the free wedding photography tomorrow at the Second Story open house!! I have been floored at all the submissions rolling in! If you know of a bride getting married in 2011, be sure to send them over by tomorrow at noon!

etsy awesomeness

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

yes, I know I use the word awesome way more than any one person should:)

So, a few weeks ago I had the pleasure of getting together with a bunch of local Knoxville photographers for a shootout. The models wore clothes from Etsy designers from Knoxville and beyond. LOVE me some Etsy so I was a happy photographer! I was organizing it with Becky for the most part but snuck away to take a few shots of one of the amazing Nastershum’s outfits. I’m seriously in love with this Etsy store! It’s all upcycled and beautiful!

Plus the model and the light wasn’t too bad either! All of these photos are straight out of the camera, no editing except resize with sharpen for the web. Ah, love that light! We met up at Cherokee Mills, a great event rental space here in Knoxville!

models, flowers, and lovely light, oh my!

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

as promised, I’m back to show a few more of the model photography session I did for Salon Resplendent. I’m in love with so many of these pictures from this shoot! The models completely rocked it for the shoot and I was in love with the light we were getting that day!
