my photography love:

my love for capturing life and memories started early in life.  I was the kid that did scrapbooks before scrapbooks were cool.  my mom introduced me to photography.  on all our many roadtrips she would always have to pull over and capture a shot.  we would complain because she would mess around with the settings and take a few minutes and we would get antsy.  looking at the pictures now and knowing what I know now, I would tell her to keep shooting.  those are our family memories.  my family lifestyle probably influenced me the most.  we grew up moving around alot and spent some time overseas on the mission field.  we didn’t have much and typically lived out of 1 suitcase each. needless to say my sister and I didn’t have alot of toys and stuff.  so we would go to these cool countries and want to get stuff, toys, the usual kid stuff.  instead, my parents would allow us to get one cultural doll from each country and we kept journals of all the countries, their history, etc.  the motto i remember being said was “memories will be our souvenirs”.  i think it is the lyric to a michael w. smith song. oh yeah, i brought up michael w. smith in my about page. that’s how we roll:) anyways, that is how i sum up my love of photography, memories will be our souvenirs.

my real love:

the other day i was out doing grocery shopping or something and my husband decided to stay home with Lena (referred to as beans on the blog…don’t ask).  i came home and was about to open the door and could see inside through the window.  i saw my husband sitting on the floor playing and laughing hysterically with beans.  just playing, with the dog trying to get in on the action.  for a brief moment it was like I was watching a movie or something, and i realized what a great little family i have.  sure we have the usual day to day grind like everyone but isn’t it wonderful to have love in your life, no matter the form.

my random loves:

to lighten things up here on my about page (sorry to be so sappy above, i don’t know what came over me!), here are some random things that hold a small piece of my heart:  reese’s peanut butter easter eggs, that time of year where you can wear a hoodie and flipflops at the same time and be comfortable, reality tv, wearing jammies, junior mints, mcdonald’s mcrib (sorry, on a food roll!), going to minor league baseball games, target, the ocean, light, eating cool ranch dorito’s on a roadtrip (its a must!), getting a rentacar, doing the wave thing with my hand when the window is open, and chocolate, definitely chocolate!
