day 4: poop, the open road, and dr. seuss

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Day 4 was our travel day of the wedding roadtrip. We woke up in the KOA overlooking wine country and went to bed high up in the hills of Yosemite, where the wedding was going to take place. Here is what was in between:

first up, the dumping station. First I have to tell you that Brad is probably the one person in the world who was looking forward to this. Well, besides Lara who was a little too after watching the rv renter video:) So, when dreaming of our RV week Brad would always revert back to his desire to empty “the sh&%#er” with boxers and a trucker hat on similar to Chevy Chase’s relatives on Christmas vacation. While he didn’t get his whole picture, he did get to mess with the blue hose and live the dream:)

So this is what we did on the morning of our first day. Emptied “the pooper”. (This is a snapshot I took out of the window…I had no dream to live up to with anything that had to do with a blue hose!)

then we hit the open road with a brief stop for a marriage license for the lovely bride and groom. Along the way Jason and Karissa worked on their vows. Inspiration came in the form of Dr. Seuss awesomeness! “will you take her as your wife, will you love her all your life” Best. wedding. vows. ever.

Then towards evening we finally starting going up in elevation towards the mountains. Every turn was a beautiful view with an amazing sunset! Here are some pictures in order so you can see the change in elevation.

Brad had a little fun looking at the views.

see the small lake in this next one towards the middle of the picture? That is the lake shown up a couple pictures. Crazy elevation and drive to get up to Yosemite!

day 3.5: the pre-wedding pictures;)

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

As we drove up through Sonoma we decided to sneak in some engagement / pre-wedding pictures of Jason and Karissa. It was a little bit gloomy of a day but we decided to rock it out anyways! We stopped at the Sonoma Post Office to mail something and a little chat with the postman pointed us in the direction of a winery in a cave that had some amazing wine barrels and a hillside full of grapes that made a perfect spot for some rocking engagement pictures!

LOVE this one!

day 3: the wine country

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

Day 3 we made our way up through wine country and Sonoma. It was everything I ever dreamed that wine country would be. Beautiful rolling hills of grapes. ahhh. My lens was in heaven! Plus we did some impromptu engagement/pre-wedding photos with Jason and Karissa but we’ll post those tomorrow because there are so.many.pictures for this post:) It was fun and raining and they rocked it out anyways!

rv living!

and my definite fave from the more natural pictures from the day. Love this!

Day 2 we woke up (in our awesome RV!) and decided to explore a little San Francisco as our next step in the wedding roadtrip.

just in case Karissa, Ben, and Nicky ever decide to make an album we thought we would get them the cover:) Isn’t that wall amazing!
first up we walked through Chinatown

then we headed on over to Fisherman’s Wharf
then Jason did some wrestling:)
then we topped off the day with a trolley ride…oh yeah!
and the happy couple on the trolley!!

day one of the wedding adventure

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

So last week we took off to an epic wedding roadtrip adventure that included an RV, 7 people, a trip through wine country, some big trees, and ended with a just as epic wedding in Yosemite Valley. Yosemite is unbelievable and awe inspiring. And an amazing place for a wedding.

But you’ll have to wait for the wedding pictures for a couple days as we relive the wedding roadtrip a little:)

We arrived in San Francisco and got our RV home all settled in. We spent the evening at an amazing restaurant Va de Vi where Ben cooked us up some amazing stuff. Seriously, amazing food!

a whitestone wedding

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Remember Heather and Bobby’s epic engagement session? Well, their wedding at Whitestone Inn in Kingston, TN didn’t disappoint! It was a beautiful wedding complete with Princess Bride music, great food, rocking photo booth, amazingly fun couple, and some awesome weather!

This is a little sneak peek for you, well, big sneak peek. I’ll be back in a few weeks to share some photo booth fun on this one. It needs its own post:)

The wedding was filled with fun moments and little details that made it sentimental all held in the beautiful chapel at Whitestone Inn. Heather had antique handkerchiefs to give out to the girls as one of the details. Loved this!

and we can’t forget the chuck taylors that the bride wore. Sparkly Converse on your wedding day=awesome!

best candy table ever!

they even had drinks made to match the colors of the wedding. Aren’t they awesome looking!

so, you know what I love best? Couples that get it. Get that your day is about you and they prioritize a time for pictures just of them! LOVE THAT! You don’t have to see each other before the wedding like some photographers preach but you do have to schedule a time just for the two of you otherwise the craziness of the day can take over.

Heather and Bobby did just that, they gave me ample time to get some amazing shots. When the heavens opened up right as we were about to start we took advantage of the amazing details in the interior of Whitestone Inn and then made our way outside for some awesomeness after the rain passed.

reason #362 why I love Heather. She didn’t flinch when I said, hey, lets use a bathtub as a prop. LOVE this photo!

and this one…

then the rain quit and we went and had some fun outside!

eeeeeeee….so sorry!

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

So I had delusions of grandeur of posting awesome pictures along our journey here in California but well, the vast Yosemite mountains and extreme lack of most things civilized has made that near impossible. We drove 2 hours to get to the one I’m typing on now:) So, please excuse the dust around here and expect awesome pictures and post daily upon my return next week!

xoxo,
Shannon

a bleak house wedding

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

This is what you get when you combine an awesome bride and groom, the beautiful location of the Bleak House, a rocking dance floor, great food, and great weather. You get an amazing wedding! Simply amazing! A big congrats to Cassidy and Nick!

Cassidy and Nick were a stunning couple at their wedding and were up for getting some amazing pictures. Which means I have way too many to show you today:)

The Bleak House has an amazing room where the bride gets ready. Can you stand this headboard!

this is what you get when you have a ’67 Cutlass as you leave car. awesomeness!
Now onto some of the fun details of the wedding. The Gibson Girls catered the wedding and did the cake. Beautiful, yummy, and super nice people! Check out that cake! Every layer was a different flavor! And it stood by itself on a lower level at the Bleak House and completely stood on its own and looked amazing!

these lights made the reception feel so cozy! You felt like you were at a Bleak House garden party:)

A big giant THANKS to Michelle for hanging with me the whole day and rocking as a second shooter. I kind of love her and wished she lived closer:)
