The voting for the picture of the year contest is now officially closed and we have a winner! More details tomorrow to follow with fun features but for now I’m off to photograph the last wedding of 2009…a New Year’s Eve wedding and then play some scrabble and Rock Band to bring in the New Year later tonight!

And yes, if you were in the new Krogers in Fountain City in Knoxville earlier today and heard a child joyfully screaming Happy New Years at the top of her lungs, yes, she was mine. And we love her for her gusto:)

The 12 Days of Pixmas are over and we now know all the great nominee’s for picture of the year! Yay! It bears repeating that I am the most luckiest Knoxville photographer ever and have amazing clients that allow me to do what I love and capture these great pictures. Thankful doesn’t even begin to describe it. When we moved to Knoxville a few years ago having a photography business here was a hope, dream, and a wish and I am so psyched about what is to come. ok…on to the contest!

So, here are the goings on for the contest once again…
-The contest will begin on 12/26.
-Spread the word you nominee’s….it’s American Idol style voting but online so let them know to come to the blog to vote.
-Contest will run through 12/31
-And leave those comments on any of the nominee posts including this one…winner from the comments will be drawn on 12/31 as well! Winner gets an awesome surprise gift! Wootwoot!

#13

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

So, as I alluded to yesterday…we are making it a baker’s dozen. Because I couldn’t decide on between the 12th and 13th nominee and because isn’t it always nice to have a baker’s dozen. I mean, you expect it at a cool little bakery so why not do it on this cool little blog:) So, here we are, #13!

Behind the scenes: This picture is from Brooke and Will’s wedding held at the Stables in Lafollette. It was a gorgeous place and a super fun couple! This was taken as they were walking into the reception area so the focus was on her causing the background to be blurry. Love the random angle and uniqueness of this shot.

Stay tuned today for the recap!

the final nominee(s) and thoughts…

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

today is the day of our last nominee! Ta da! Tomorrow: a recap post of the nominee’s and what the heck is going on for those just tuning in:)

Some final thoughts from mwa:)
-I have done this picture of the year the last 3 years, with the contest aspect starting last year. This year it was far harder to pick nominee’s…to the point that I got some help:) There are definitely many a picture of some of my wonderful, great clients that so deserve to be up here. But, we have to limit it somehow and I’m afraid not everyone could get picked:(
-I lovelovelove all my clients and like things like contests, newsletters, etc.. because it gives back a little to them and celebrates their beauty…because really, without great clients there would be no great pictures. This picture of the year contest makes me love them more! Aren’t they awesome!
-So, I couldn’t decide on the last nominee…there were too many to choose from and one image wasn’t just jumping out at me. So, I asked some people including some random stranger sitting beside me at Panera…and this is who won:) ….well, this is one that won! It was a tie so I decided to make it a baker’s dozen. Tomorrow we will announce the 13th and have the summary of all the funness around here:)

Only fitting since this cake is the most amazing thing I ever tasted:) This picture is from Jenny and Brian’s wedding and I love it because I love the depth of it with the sparkling lights behind it! Yummy!

#11 nominee!

Monday, December 21st, 2009

As promised…here is the next nominee! #11. One more to go! Without further ado…

Behind the scenes: This picture was of the amazing Casey and Courtney’s wedding. It was held in Historic Rugby and every detail was so perfectly planned and crafted. Loved it! This picture is looking out the over 100 year old window of the church looking out at Courtney and her dad before she walked down the aisle. I love that you can see the oldness and speckles in the glass of the window in the picture and you can see Courtney and her dad talking and wonder what it was about.

Day 10!

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Yes, this is late and I skipped a day. You caught me! Yesterday is the day that the chaos of Christmas hit and I realized I had been living in lala land of the fact that Christmas is less than a week away. So a packaging and wrapping we went and the blog sat all sad and lonely for nominee #10. The good news is that my franticness has been calmed by my post office visit today and getting everything in the mail that needed to and the even better news is we have 2 nominee’s today! Here is #10! (I’ll make you wait it out a little on #11…but don’t you worry, its a comin’!)

A little behind the scenes: This was from Jenny and Ty’s engagement session. They went on to have a beautiful wedding with pictures that could be up here as well. This picture was nominated because I love the “different-ness” of it (is that a word?). I love that it looks like I snuck up on them, love the angle and the colors too. For you locals, this was taken up at Norris Dam. Shot with a Canon 5d at 25mm, 4.0, 1/15 sec.
