You know those days and decisions that change the course of you life? Like paths winding off the main road. You always wonder what was ahead on the main road but can’t help take the small path in hopes of what is ahead?
That main road was safety to you, comfort, you knew what to expect. You loved it for that reason, yet that was also its weakness. You need more. And now you are on this small path that is much harder but has the
possibility to be so rewarding. And you are so thrilled about being there. You know that place? That is where I am in life. Decisions are made and paths are being taken. And I’m so excited about the possibilities.
This five on friday is dedicated to those paths we take in life. I challenge you to take a path today. Take that step of faith. I am a HUGE fan of quotes. Dork, I know:) They are so inspirational to me and I love one’s that you can use as reminders in your life. One’s you can memorize and become your anthem. Here are some of my fave quotes of all time.
1.
Be the change you wish to see in the world. -Gandhi
This is my #1. I have it framed in my bathroom. It goes through my head at least once a day. I want it printed on my tombstone and live my life around its meaning. Love it! (sorry for the melodramaticness:)…is that a word? ) If any one needs an idea for Christmas for me, check this out!
2.
Happiness is in the journey, not the destination.
3. I think Ralph Waldo Emerson has some of the best quotes! And the best part, that those cards that have the quotes printed on them have a ton of his! Here are some faves…
-To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.
-What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters to what lies within us.
-Do not go where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
4.
It is always the simple things that change our lives. And these things never happen when you are looking for them to happen. Life will reveal answers at the pace life wishes to do so. You feel like running, but life is on a stroll. – Donald Miller, Blue Like Jazz, 217
Blue Like Jazz is one of my favorite books! HIGHLY recommend it! If you don’t like reading, they are coming out with a movie! I love the book though and recommend it
Love it so much that if you want to borrow it, let me know and you can read mine. The above is just one of the quotes that I love from it!. It’s not a religious book, the sub title is nonreligious thoughts on Christian Spirituality. If you ever wonder what Christianity is supposed to be, even if you are non-Christian, this book is for you. It is the the kind of book that makes me want to be a Christian because Christianity isn’t about religiosity that we see here in our churches, its about being real. ok…off my kick, sorry! But the author’s note in the front of the book made me realize that the book was going to be awesome…check it out..
“I never liked jazz music because jazz music doesn’t resolve. But I was outside the Bagdad Theater in Portland one night when I saw a man playing the saxophone. I stood there for fifteen minutes, and he never opened his eyes. After that I liked jazz music. Sometimes you have to watch somebody love something before you can love it yourself. It is as if they are showing you the way. I used to not like God because God didn’t resolve….”
5.
“What would you do if you knew you could not fail?” -Robert Schuller

Awesome. I can’t wait to see where you stroll!
What an exciting place in life for you! Thanks for such a thoughtful and challenging post.
I love those quotes! You have inspired me to check out Blue Like Jazz, too!!
The Ghandi quote is one of my favorites as well. I was fortunate enough to go to India and visit the Ghandi house…incredible!
I love that last one…hard to take risks, but it is a must in life!
