I decided to split up the pics into groups to help with the vast array of them:) Today: landscapes and views. Enjoy!

I know, I know….the strangest title ever but believe me, my father is laughing right now:) I know you were expecting pictures from Guatemala, and believe me, they are a coming. But my poor hubby and father have been waiting to see these and I’m very impressed with Brad’s increased photography skills that I wanted to give him props and let him have first dibs on the blog posts of the week:)

So, while I was gone to Guatemala, my dad and my husband took off to Penn State. It was alumni weekend there so dad wanted to take a trip up to see old friends and Brad had never been….so off they went on their roadtrip in the jeep. Brad took my backup camera and had some fun! Here are some of the pics (I’m so proud of him for these!)

ps…I put my watermark on them for convenience sake…but Brad took them all. And for the photog’s, these are all SOOC, resized/sharpened for web, the balloon pic is the only one I cropped. Pretty good huh? :)

this one is my fave…dad walking around Penn State…oh so artsy:) img_0102
the few pics of random named places are, you guessed it, ….bars :)

Penn State is where Ben and Jerry learned all they know…true story! The Creamery is on campus and sells the most amazing ice cream ever. So amazing that the fat content is illegal so they can’t sell it publicly…also true story! img_0083webimg_0084webimg_0149webimg_0152webimg_0196web
this one’s of dad back in the day…he’s the second from the left on the bottom row. Rocking the chops and stache! img_0208web

Five on Friday!

Friday, June 12th, 2009

fivejune

1. A big fun announcement coming soon….just a hint for those Knoxville locals, save the date for 8/7.

2. While away from my daughter last week, she decided to learn a new little saying…taken from Kai Lan, the cartoon. She now puts her hands on her hips, stomps her feet and says “I’m mad”. Luckily it’s pretty humorous and she feels the same way and soon giggles afterwards. Hilarious!

3. We are leaving to go to Wisconsin on 7/3 and spending the week with my sis and her fam! I am so excited! On the itinerary is hitting up the farmers market, enjoying some fireworks, going to the Dells to enjoy an awesome waterpark, and hanging out and watching movies!! Plus we are flying out of Nashvegas so we’ll get to visit with our Nashville fam too….they will get to experience the joy of Lena and all her craziness:)

4. Speaking of the Lenabeans. She has definitely taken on her skill of talking and ran with it. It’s a constant chatter around our house and she is not afraid to get loud! (wonder who she gets that from…hehe!) She is
now doing little phrases and two syllable words. Instead of Moc, its now Mocha. She even said mommy the other day, not mama. It’s to the point that she even blabbers on in the middle of the night if she happens to wake up…just going through all the words she knows, mama, dada, mocha, meowmeow, etc.. Hilarious!

5. Fathers day is coming up and I need an idea! Anyone have one?! Brad showed me up this year by making a ceramic thing of Lena’s hands for mother’s day so I have some thinking to do to top that:) Idea’s welcome!

ps…check back later this week for a giveaway!!!

guatemala sneak peek (travel photographer)

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Well, I am home from Guatemala! I had such a great time and it was so nice to see God work. I always feel spiritually refreshed after a mission trip. Also, if you are the praying kind, please keep me in prayer for a couple decisions and direction changes that I need. Lots of stories and pics to come but I wanted to post on here to let you know I’m back, safe and sound:)

17-40mm review

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

My recent purchase of 17-40 mm L might have been the highlight purchase (besides the 5d!) of my photographic journey. With the caviat of….I LOVE wide angles. Some people aren’t wide angle people…if you are one of those, you may not LOVE this lens as much as some others. After breaking the lens in on a wedding last week (see the post below for some example shots with it!), I giggled with excitement to Brad and exclaimed….”I could shoot only with this lens I love it so much!” To which he rolled his eyes:) Its true….I could do a whole session with just this lens and be perfectly content! The 17mm allows you to get major wide angle, especially with a full frame sensor camera, and using around the 40 mm lets you get some good close ups that are pretty rocking as well.

plus, it’s fun to play around with and allows you to get shots like this:)
