casey and courtney: married (knoxville wedding photographer)

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Casey and Courtney had one of the most uniquely beautiful weddings I have seen. It took place just outside of Knoxville, in Historic Rugby, in a church built in 1887, still intact with all its original details. Such a beautiful place to have a wedding close to Knoxville and an even more beautiful place for a happy wedding photographer:) Rugby is a place where you get lost in time and forget about the hustle and bustle of real life in Knoxville and just enjoy the details. The wedding reception was at a bed and breakfast, outside under a tent, with the backdrop of trees and fields with horses in them. And the wedding ceremony and reception details…oh the details! I could go on and on of the awesome details (but instead, I will just show you the pictures of them!) Note to know when you are looking at the pictures: Casey graduated the week before the wedding (yay!) and is a pharmacist.

I’m usually pretty nervous/excited on a wedding day because there is alot to capture, do, make sure you don’t miss anything, etc… but for some reason I didn’t have that here…just excitement about the day for Casey and Courtney and to capture some awesome pictures. Perhaps it was the fact that they chose to see each other before the wedding (LOVE it!), or the great organization of the day (Courtney, it was more organized than you think:) ), or just the simplistic beauty of our surroundings and the great people…but something about the day was truly magical.

A huge congrats to Casey and Courtney! Enjoy your wedding photographs! (sorry about the length…I was indecisive!)

Memorial days memories:)

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Memorial day was nothing too special in that it was mostly an ordinary day but that made it all the more special. We spent it hanging out at the house, which we don’t get to do that often. I worked on packing and a little cleaning…some Xbox was played by Brad. just hanging out with the fam! Later in the afternoon we decided to blow up our pool (yes, we are ghetto! complete with putting some chairs in the pool for the mama to relax!) I decided to grab some video since I have been lagging in that department. A bucket, an egg, and a toy ketchup bottle in the pool made for a happy and busy Lenabean, who played for a good hour or so in the pool before making dada get in with us:) We grilled out and enjoyed the evening with nana and pops to top it off!

five on friday!

fivejune

1. Well, we are off tomorrow on the grand adventure of missions! We leave bright and early at 1am…ahh! I’m packed, ready, and hoping to get a couple hours of sleep! Not sure if I will have time to blog any over here
while I’m there but expect lots of pics and such when I get back…I am lining up some posts since I am a little behind so no worries, there will be new posts while I’m gone:) We will have internet access some and will be blogging on the mission blog about our adventures…check it out at powellmissions.blogspot.com

2. Guess what I am taking with me!? My lensbaby!! I’m super excited to play with it since I haven’t had much time to since I got it. The town we will be in is famous for its indigenous market that we are going to on Sunday so I’m thinking some good pics there:)

3. I will miss my Lenabean so much (and Brad of course…not to be left out:) )! She is getting to go on a roadtrip with her nana to see her cousin so I’m sure much fun will be had but man, will I miss her. I made a cute little book to bring with me to have some pics to show. I was going to post a pic but its not arriving (hopefully…fingers crossed!) until later today. I did include a pic above of Lena sporting her lovely headband attire that she is grooving to lately!

4. It is truly a miracle. I have always wondered if I could do it and slightly jealous of those who could…but now, I too, have accomplished it. I will be bringing only a carry on to Guatemala. whatwhat! I know! I had hopes but not strong ones. So I laid all my stuff out, brought only necessities and low and behold, it fits with room to spare!

5. it’s official….some fun planning going on for a few things to be announced in June! One in particular is going to be awesome!!! (sorry, no hints at this time)

two things…

1. I saw this today and fell in love. We usually are tent camping people but I have come to the realization if we had a small camper we would go more and it would be tons more easier! Then I saw this on the road and was hooked! It even comes in fun colors!!! Of course it is the most expensive camper but I’ll hold out my hopes that I can find a deal on it and someday have one. Here is the color I would get:)

2. I saw this the other day. I watched only a few minutes of it but those few minutes have haunted me the past few days so I had to go back and watch it all. Celebrate what is right in the world. I love that! I actually think that those 7 words completely sum up the paradox I have felt my whole life; from the child playing ball in a dump where he lived to the lady sitting on the side of the road across from KARM so is so beautiful in her own right and probably has one heck of a story that would teach us all a thing or two. Celebrate what is right with the world today.

an honorary #3…. Congrats to Courtney and Casey who got married yesterday and are off on their honeymoon today!!! (Casey booked the honeymoon so its a complete surprise to Courtney today when they leave…how fun!!!) Awesome pictures to follow this week for their sneak peek!!

five on friday!!

fivemay22

here we are again! don’t the weeks go by way too quick! I have been busy editing and getting things done before I go to Guatemala next week. I took a little time away from editing to do this five though…gave my eyes a needed break:) enjoy!

1. We started the Fireproof devotional this week at small group. I’m excited to see what its all about! This year is year 4 for Brad and I….doesn’t seem possible! So I figure this can’t be anything but good for the relationship…even if I had to drag him to go with me:) (the food helped coax him but now he is dedicated to it….he’s not too good with change but once he commits there is no turning back!)

2. So Lena’s new thing is headbands. She found a pack of 4 on our recent trip to Target and then proceeded to open them and put them all over her head, every which way, and walk around the store like she was something. Hilarious! So, I caved and bought them and now she is free to wear them everywhere (which she does!)! I snapped a pic of it the other day but it is still sitting on the card. I’ll share in the future:)

3. My new Etsy find! I just love Etsy! So these are customized adoption gifts…a grand idea! I’m thinking they can also be just fun gifts in general too! I LOVE maps…something about a globe or map that makes me all giddy inside. strange, I know. so these pendents I am loving!

4. I’m in need of some old doors. If you know where I can find one or have some you want to get off your hands, holla at your girl. Old wood doors preferably, can be in bad shape (in fact the more distressed the better!)

5. Woohoo for Memorial Day! Super excited about this weekend! First, an awesome wedding tomorrow in one of the most amazing places I have yet to photograph a wedding in. Then, final packing day for the mission trip and a cookout with friends, followed by a day of leisure on Monday that I am going to use to get some stuff done! Woohoo! How are you enjoying your Memorial Day?

a new arrival

a new arrival to the Kelley household!!! The Canon 17-40 mm L lens. Let’s just say its already pretty spoiled:) I can’t wait to try it out this weekend at a wedding! I love me some wide angle and have missed it since I switched to Canon and didn’t have one.

Abbi needed some pics for her to use in her modeling career and give to her agent to us. I am loving these pics! Abbi was great to work with and we rocked it out in the Old City! For you photogs…these are all sooc (whatwhat!?), only resized and sharpened for the web, canon 5d, 28-135mm for most of them.

mmm…I love me some graffiti! The guys who did this were just finishing up with this and nicely let us use it for some pics! I told them to stop on by and check it out on here!

brooke and william: engaged! (knoxville engagement photographer)

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

brooke and william are a great engaged couple getting married in June in Knoxville! We made our way to downtown Knoxville to get some fun engagement photographs. William caved a little and started to enjoy it and even gave us some direction in a few shots inspired by him:) Enjoy the engagement photography!

I know…you thought I was going to miss today. I’m cutting it close but here we are… a post for the fifth day in a row! I’m impressing myself. I am crazybusy post processing all these shoots but wanted to stop and share this sneak peek:)
