I took pictures for Laura and her fiance last year and they are getting married in just a few short weeks!!! The newspaper specifically wanted a pic of Laura for the engagement announcement so we snuck a couple minutes in on this rainy Friday to get a few. Just let me know which one you like Laura! (if youre not Laura, feel free to give her some love in the comments on which is your favorite!)

1. Yo Gabba Gabba is new on 4/3!!! And the cherry on top is Jack Black will be the celeb guest so it should be funny. I’m tivo’ing it and crossing my fingers that my tivo will get its act together and stop misbehaving:) Nick Jr at 4:30 est I believe.

2. Oh American Idol. I always watch the auditions and then start back getting into it around the top 12. Until then I can’t really say too much on anyone because there are so many. So, its finally down to a few and I definitely am getting some faves! I love Danny, who doesn’t. But LOVE Megan and the red headed girl (sorry, forgot her name!)…just because they are different. I love different. Who are you voting for?

3. April showers bring May flowers. That’s what I have been telling myself these past few days while we have gotten pretty soaked! I am so booked this month and am hoping this isn’t a trend! Although my poor yard does need the rain….we are working on a mud pit down our hill:)

4. For you photographer’s, remember last week when I mentioned something fun in the future?! Well, I can tell you a little now about it!!! April 1st there will be a new blog/site debuted for Knoxville area photogs (or others really!) to share, build community, support each other, get freebies, all sorts of things!! So, take your typing fingers on April 1st on over to www.knoxphotogs.com and get in on the action! There is also a facebook group for announcements if you want to join that now!

ps…if you are a photographer who wants to submit a share, article you’ve written about an aspect of the industry, etc.. just email over to me! And if you have a biz such as design, templates, etc… let me know and I’ll get you info! The advertising rates are very affordable and only a one time fee (not monthly!!!)

5. It’s almost easter egg time!!! This year I am boiling eggs and decorating (thanks to our Dora easter egg kit!) with Lena so it should be rather funny! I’m hoping for some fun pics of that and her hunting eggs! I think it has literally been 10 years since I have decorated eggs so I think I may be more into it than her!

lenahat

found these pics as I was getting some pics ready to send up to Lindsay from our last visit and thought we needed a good old fashioned post on my lenabug. Although I know I mention her alot on the blog but she is just growing by leaps and bounds and I wanted to document some of the little things…

-Her high chair tray has a little cup holder spot in it. That is where all the food she doesn’t like or her bowl when she is done goes. our little ocd girl:)
-She is talking like crazy and starting to respond really well. I was making dinner tonight and it got quiet in the other room so I asked if she was ok and a little “yes” peeped up:) she also loves to exclaim “nana” when mom knocks on the door!
-She shrugged at me! The other day she pointed to the kitchen and I said something to the extent of going to the bedroom with me first and then going to the kitchen. She shrugged her shoulder and put her hand like “ok, come on!” and walked to the bedroom! mess…pure mess!
-She woke up this morning a new person….hopefully the teeth mess is behind us!
-Tonight she learned the word “more”….this could be bad!
-Favorite foods: banana, strawberry’s, mac and cheese, choc milk, yogurt
-I have this little purse I got when I was little from Tongan made out of a coconut. She loves that things and puts her WonderPets in there and totes it around. Does my heart good!
-She is a lover of shoes and has alot of opinion about which ones to wear. She loves to take them on and off and thinks the shoe aisle in target is made just for her. She immediately takes off her own shoes when she sees the aisle. Luckily she only tries on and then waves goodbye to them…lets hope that continues!

ok…all for now. I may add more later as I think about them!

graduation (knoxville photographer)

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Sarah is a senior at UT in Knoxville, graduating with her masters. She wanted some senior pictures to document this special time. In her own words, its one of the most important things she has done in her life. She is such a joy I’m so happy for her! Sarah, may you be blessed in this next step of your journey after graduating from UT Knoxville! Hope you love the senior pictures.

bed confessions

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

Our bed consists of our mattress and box spring placed on cinder blocks. There, I said it. I’m not proud and will be the first to admit my ghettoness, but let me explain:) I have always had issues with beds. My double bed I had as a single girl would always come off the rails and land me in the floor in the middle of the night. Perhaps it was my lack of talent in putting it together that was the problem. Then we got our king mattress that we have now and just put in on the floor at first. When we moved to Knoxville and into our house that was built way before the age and era of too much clutter, we needed the storage underneath so what did we do, added the cinder blocks!

The cinder blocks are taking their toll on the boxsprings so we are definitely in need of a new bed. I wanted a more understated modern looking bed though, not the traditional 4 poster that is so prevalent in furniture stores here in Tennessee. So, in came Ikea. I have been drooling over this bed and trying to find a way to get it since we don’t live near one and I didn’t want pay huge shipping. So, when my mom called from Ikea today on her way home from Wisconsin today and asked if we needed anything….guess what I said!!!!??? So, this is on its way to me crammed in their Explorer as I type. Thanks mom for being my Ikea delivery gal!

1. If you are trying to be healthy: Try out Sparkpeople. I have been doing a commit to be fit program at my gym and this site has helped tremendously! Best of all…its free! PS…lost almost 7 pounds so far.

2. If you are a lover of music: Check out No Line on the Horizon by the great U2

3. If you are a photographer, particularly a Knoxville photographer: You will want to keep your eyes peeled on the blog here in the next few weeks. Its going to be awesome!

4. If you are a parent: I’ve been concerned over Bean’s dislike of all things green and love of all things pasta and not sure what to do. In my search of healthy kids food that she may eat I stumbled across this gem and wanted to share! Smart Foods Healthy Kids. Some of it I know wouldn’t fly here at the Kelley’s but some of it is definitely on the list to try.

5. If you are a lover of outdoors: Brad has become slightly addicted to rock climbing as our Uncle Jason put it. He now has some gear and some practice rope so watch out! I’m so excited about warm weather, camping, riding with the windows down, wearing flip flops. Lord I love the summer! Even though the weather won’t be as nice as I’d like, tomorrow we are making out way to the Smokies to spend time with the Lee’s and check out Ober G’burg maybe. Enjoy the lovely weather and get outside!! Here is a map of Knoxville greenways if you aren’t in the mood for the mountains…Knoxville Greenways
