bubbles

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Last weekend we made our way to Nashvegas to do a very delayed Christmas with Brad’s family and to celebrate Ethan’s 5th birthday! It was a great time even though we had to end it a little early since snow was moving in quickly.

Grammy gave Lena some bubbles and it was an instant hit! I love the way the light hits the bubbles!

this picture is all wrong technically but one of the only pictures I have of her looking right at me and smiling so sweet….all for her Wonder Pets that her great grandma gave her!

5 on Friday!

Friday, February 27th, 2009

1. I have some pictures waiting in the wings to be blogged but am in need of doing some mad proofing so I’ll save those pics for this week for ya. Plus, I was missing the 5 on Fridays and thought this was a good excuse to squeeze one in:)

2. Please go here . It is hilarious!

3. After shopping with mom the other week I have realized that coupons, even though a pain, can sometimes be worth it! So, here are some sites I have found. My problem is I tend to not buy the name brand stuff so I feel like clipping coupons are a waste of time when I can buy the store brand for just as cheap. But with a good sale, those coupons definitely come in handy. I’ll let you know how it goes this week…

4. Is it sad that I’m beginning to know the Friday crowd at Panera?

5. I was talking to a friend the other day about how you can go to places in this world that make you stand in awe and realize that there must be a God. That is how I feel about the ocean. Reminded me of an awesome band that I haven’t brought out in a while. In YWAM we used to sing a lot of these songs… Ten Shekel Shirt. Here are a couple youtube videos of there songs….

Here is one of my faves…love the line of childlike faith. Forget the religiosity that runs rampant in Christianity and other religions. It really is as simple as loving God, believing in Him, loving others as He did, and knowing your sins are forgiven. Unashamed love.

I would like to thank Plex, without having him to hold we probably wouldn’t have this picture:)

dear lenabean,
my baby girl. you turned 18 months old last week and we celebrated your unbirthday on Valentine’s Day. Not much fanfare but a little celebration with some Honeybun Cake and a trip with nana to Baskin Robbins later that night. It is so fun to watch you learn and grow every day. You love every little thing about life and this world, from finding Mr. Moon in the morning to telling us to turn up the radio when you hear your favorite song…that makes me happy. May you always find joy and happiness throughout your life. You are learning to talk alot and say words (and often just babble about like you are carrying on a conversation) but have also developed your own little sign language, including sticking your tongue out and pointing to it when you are thirsty! A friend, Jamie, told us this week that you are a perfect combination of me and you dada. You definitely have my stubbornness of doing things by yourself and getting frustrated when you can’t figure something out right away! You got every ounce of you love of games and playing from your dada! You love to pick on Mocha with her toys and think its hilarious to grab my socks away when I try to put them on. You have a deep love for all things Dora and have been known to wake up saying “doradoradora”! As you can see in the picture above you also love some Yo Gabba Gabba…although I admit, I forced you into liking them by making you watch it because it is so fun! You have learned to play quite a mean drum from one of the episodes and even made your debut playing on a real set the other day at Uncle Jason’s! Thank you for being my lenabean and bringing such joy into our lives, my yo gabba gabba baby!

love, mommy

john and shelia sneak peek (Knoxville wedding photographer)

I can’t think of a better way to spend Valentine’s Day than getting married. John and Shelia made their way from Maryland (along with lots of their family and friends!) to have a radtastic weekend in the Smokies celebrating their marriage. I joined them for their reception at Moose Hollow Lodge and we had a great time and some great pictures! Kristyn from Panache Productions was the wedding consultant and did a fantabulous job (I’m on a roll of making up words for some reason…just go with it!).

John and Shelia, it was so great to finally get to meet you and get to help capture your special day! You guys rock! Enjoy the pics!

I wanted to share this pic because Brad came with me to the reception and I handed him my backup camera, put it on auto, and said “have fun!”. It was so cute to see him get creative as the night went on. He got some good shots and I wanted to share one:)

Shelia gave me a great compliment and called my pictures weird! I love that! I’m definitely not the photographer for everyone because I like the odd, artsy photos and I loved Shelia and John because they were all for them! Here is one….

usually other flashes are not our friend but I’m kinda digging this one I caught. I decided might as well use the flashes to my advantage:) img_8889web

again, weird and love it! My favorite part is John’s face. This guy is HILARIOUS and I think the photo at least captures just a tiny part of it…

coming up…. (Knoxville wedding photographer)

Monday, February 16th, 2009

This is from a wedding reception that I was the photographer at, held in Gatlinburg, right outside of Knoxville. The wedding took place at a chapel outside of Knoxville and then the couple had a giant cabin in Gatlinburg where the reception was held. This was a destination wedding so that cabin was a great idea and gave the wedding party a place to stay too while they were down in Knoxville. What a fun wedding to photograph and I was so happy that John and Shelia invited me to be their wedding photographer.

Perhaps one of my fave images of all time….more to come from this rocking reception!

some new cushions

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

we needed a new one bad! our old couch has seen better days…before the days of dogs, kids, saggy cushions, and spills. that said, we love a good comfy couch because we do love our tv viewing at night. so, we’ve been on the search for a couch that can meet our needs….and finally found one today! We even got it on a 2 day sale for a steal and added a stainguard to hopefully help with future certain messes. It’s delivered on Thursday! Yay! My plan is to cover the pillows with the fabric to match curtains. Here is the pic off the website…
