dating

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

I’ll admit it…I’ve been dating…2 ways no less:)

1st date story:
I had the distinct privilege of going to EarthFare this weekend. My first trip and I am in love. I do have to say that I love my Co-op but it is a treat to make a trip across town to go and visit EarthFare. I wanted to try everything there! So, anyways, back to dating:) I bought some dates there in my quest of eating raw. I am in love with my dates! I made some awesome raw truffles the other night…yum! Here they are (the dates) in all their glory

2nd date story (a little more deep than the 1st:) )
So, we have been on a quest to find a home church. A few weeks ago, after getting in the car from our 5th try at a church, we were comparing our likes/dislikes and I it hit me- we are dating churches (I know…I told you I have been watching Sex and the City way too much!…but hear me out!) You know how with dating, you’re probably never going to find the perfect person but you want to find someone that you are compatible with, can be yourself with, and who has qualities that you like enough to put up with the things that you don’t (Sounds terrible but really, you have to love something so you are more apt to put up with the things that irk you sometimes) That is exactly how it is with picking out a church (or at least with us)…you walk in, get the first impression, see how comfortable you are, see what they have to offer, see if its a good fit, etc… So, we have been struggling with this, mainly to find a place that we fit with (feels like family…comfortable…this is the most important I think), has a good time of meeting and good nursery (I wish it didn’t, but this does have to take priority for us because Beans is an active/social child and needs something to do and someone to work with her…i’m already dreading kindergarten). And today, I think we found one!! So maybe my church dating scene is over…I ready for a monogamous relationship:)

Lighten our darkness, we beseech thee, O Lord; and by thy great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night… Bring us, we pray thee, in safety to the morning hours; through him who died for us and rose again, thy Son our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen

(from the Book of Common Prayer…thought it was fitting while we keep those in TX/LA in our prayers tonight)

the magic show

Friday, September 12th, 2008

so, Brad loves Criss Angel and tivo’s/watches Mindfreak religiously. We often have the discussion as to how Criss does what he does, is it real, yada yada. Me often ending the conversation in laughter at his seriousness about the subject. I get a call from Brad today telling me that he has just caught up with tivo and has learned new tricks. He bragged how he had been practicing for Beans (he tells me this while Beans is clapping and yelling with glee in the background, clearly enjoying the magic show). So I get home and get to participate in the show (which I have to say is better than the last one he tried…hehe!). As I am being the Vanna participant I am giggling because he is so serious about it, I have to get it on camera, he looks at me and tells me that “I could never be a magician’s assistant because I don’t appreciate the art”! Lord help me:)

the pink chair (and five on friday!)

Friday, September 12th, 2008

So, a combination post:) I have been meaning to post these from a few weeks ago. Beans (my daughter for those that are lurking! :) ), and her pink chair. She loves this chair, it was her b’day present for me and her dada. I want to get a few more in a more urban setting, but here is the nature version of the chair:)

now, for the five on friday…an update on beans since we’re on the subject:)

-She is now walking as of 9/3/08…however, she only walks when she is in the mood (she’s an opinionated little thing!)

-The fever and sickness has been linked to an actual something…Roseola. Just a common virus that has a fever followed by a rash. We’re in the rash state now. Nothing you can do but let it run its course. I blame the West Town Mall where we took her to play. Gotta love the fact that I let her climb on everything and get dirty outside on a typical basis and the minute we got to the good mall that is supposedly nicer that the other malls in town, she picks up something!

-She loves her baths and just splashes and splashes away with her dada!

-When she is wondering about something she tilts her head and her little hands go up in the air with a “huh?”….so funny!

-Shoes are her friend but her little feet stink after wearing sandles. Poor thing, takes after her dad:)

sick.

Beans has a bug and isn’t feeling well. She has been running a fever for the last two days is now not eating and just in a crabby mood. Poor thing, she is so pathetic! Say a little prayer for her if youre the praying kind:)

In a praise, mom is doing well from her procedure and all looks good! She is coming home from the hospital today:)

Blake and Ashlee has a gorgeous wedding that I was proud to be the photographer at. We traveled from Knoxville to their wedding in Savannah. Along with their wedding pictures they got an album. I’ve been waiting to post this until Blake and Ashlee got to see it first. They officially have now seen it, so now I can share:) Here is a look at their album… (I added the watermark for the web..its not really printed on the album…just an fyi!)

and a slideshow of all the pages:)

It’s late Sunday night, the rest of the fam is asleep, MTV Video Music awards are on (I can’t help it…I love award shows…and Britney Spears opened! go ahead..laugh!) and I am catching up on some to do’s on my list with the great invention of wifi!

Hear are some pics that I finally got off my memory card with the help of my new card reader….more to come…these are from Labor Day weekend…

Darn deer! I have a serious issue with deer since one jumped into my car a few years ago…these deer spooked right after I snapped this pic and I was a bundle of nerves. My main issue with them is they are as sporadic as tornadoes and I will never life it down with my family if another one hits me:) DSC09616web

randomness….

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

ok…its been awhile for a post so here are some random things going on at the moment:)

-The reason for the lack of posts…my card reader thing for my computer isn’t cooperating. So I have many fun pics sitting on my memory cards waiting for some lovin’. I’m going this weekend to get a new one…I’ve been needing a secure one anyways so this at least gets me to stop procrastinating!

-Beans is officially walking!!! Up to about 6-8 steps…only when she is in the mood though:) She has been a little indignant and moody lately…we’ll blame it on teething:)

-Little Chicks and Dudes in Fountain City is closing…I am so sad! I love that place! Go check them out in September to take advantage of some great deals!

-We are having a yard sale on Saturday!! We are selling a love seat that is a pull out sleeper, Baby Einstein exersaucer, jogging stroller, lots of baby stuff, home stuff, etc… stop on by!

-I came home today to Beans and her dada sleeping on the couch together…so cute!

-Flight of the concords=amazing!

-It’s First Friday tomorrow!!!! We’re going downtown and to the Old City to enjoy the funness. Our stops will include Old City Java for the handmade stuff and visiting the new yoga place and Magpies at their new location!!! Yay! I’m excited!
